Pastel paintings are professionally framed with archival materials.
Oil paintings are professionally stretched over timber stretcher bars and neatly stapled and finished on the back. All original pieces are sold framed or stretched and are ready to hang.

Oil paintings are created using the finest oil paints, mediums and 100% cotton canvas or linen. Canvases are hand primed three times with an oil based gesso and finely sanded between each coat to impart a smooth surface.

Paint is either applied in many thin, transparent glazes to render a luminous effect which results in a smooth, glass-like surface, or precise, individual, short brush strokes laden with paint, overlapping each stroke over the next (as in the "Colour In Flight" Series). These paintings have a textured surface where each and every brush stroke is prominent and defined.

All oil paintings are gallery wrapped which allows the sides of the canvas to be painted and gives a floating effect when hung. Oil paintings are unframed unless where otherwise specified.

Pastel paintings are created using high quality soft pastels and archival, acid and lignin free pastel papers. These luxuriously soft pastels produce a beautiful, velvety texture and brightness to the finished piece where light is reflected off the small particles. To preserve the brilliant colours and velvety texture of these paintings, I do not use any fixative. Pastel paintings require great care therefore they are framed as soon as possible for protection. Acid free, double or triple mat boards with spacers are used to allow any loose particles of pastel to fall through and not collect on the surrounding mat boards.

Once a pastel painting is framed behind glass, it is the most permanent of all mediums and will remain as bright and velvety as the day they were painted for centuries.
