CHOOSE YOUR PHOTOS
The next step is to find or take photos which capture your pets personality and characteristics well. Photos are very important in the process and I cannot stress this enough. Basically, the clearer the photo, the better the portrait will be, so please choose your photos wisely, making sure that they are clear, sharp and in focus. I usually work from one photo but use others as reference for fur colours, markings, etc. At least three (3) clear photos of your pet would be ideal.
CHOOSE MEDIUM & SIZE
I’m currently using three mediums to portray your pets being pastel, pencil (black & white), or oils, which result in three, very different styles. Which medium you choose depends completely on your tastes and whether you prefer colour or only black and white. All mediums result in beautifully detailed portraits.
Sizes range from Mini to Extra Large. Custom sizes are also available.
GET IN TOUCH
Once you have chosen your photos and have decided upon the size and medium, the next step is to send your photographs to me at a good resolution and let me know your requirements and thoughts. Digital or scanned photos can be e-mailed or uploaded via the online order form. Hard copy photos sent through the mail will be returned with the completed portrait. If for some reason I am unable to work from them, they will be returned free of charge.
Once I have received your photos and depending on your requirements, I will create a digital mock-up of how your finished portrait will look. You may add a different background, include certain elements, delete unwanted items such as hands, tags or collars, or include other subjects into the portrait.
After the mock-up is competed with any requested alterations, it is used as a visual guide for the final portrait.
In order to secure your commission, a 50% deposit of the total order is required to secure your place on my commission list, and prior to commencement of your portrait. A portrait is not deemed “ordered” until the deposit has been paid in full.
Payments can be made by securely using Credit/Debit Card via PayPal, Direct Bank Deposit/Transfer, or with cash if you are local and would like to pick your portrait up from my studio.
The turnaround time from approval of your order and completion of the portrait, depends on the portrait size, chosen medium, complexity and my client list where I work on a first in, first served basis. I will always give you an approximate date of completion before I start any work on your portrait. If your order is a gift and I am not able to meet your desired deadline, I provide gift vouchers both traditional and electronic, which can be processed in a matter of days and are a great way to present a unique and treasured gift in a short amount of time.
PETS IN PROGRESS
Once I have started your pet portrait, I photograph the portrait at various stages of the process and email them to you for your feedback, which is a crucial part of the portrait’s progress. This gives you the opportunity to let me know if you require any changes or adjustments at different stages of the portrait. Clients find it very exciting to watch their precious pet gradually morph into a piece of art that will soon grace their wall.
Once the portrait is completed, it is scanned or photographed and e-mailed to you for approval. Minor alterations can be made at this final stage to ensure that you are 100% happy with your portrait before it leaves my studio. Once the portrait is approved, I post the final image on my Facebook page unless I am instructed otherwise, or if it is a gift. It will however, be posted on my blog as part of my portfolio after the gift has been received.
Once the final scan has been approved by you, only then is the remaining balance for the portrait payable.
The final balance needs to be paid in full before the portrait can be framed and delivered.
Mouldings, matboards, slips and fillets are chosen to compliment the portrait best, but if you have something specific in mind, please do not hesitate to let me know and I will e-mail you a few samples to your specifications for you to choose from. Name plaques are optional and free of charge.
There is a wide range of quality mouldings of various styles and finishes to choose from which will suit any decor.
I personally package all my artwork using the best packing methods and materials available, ensuring that your portrait arrives to you in perfect condition. For deliveries within Australia, I use TNT Sensitive Couriers, or specialised Art Couriers, depending on your location and the size of the portrait. For International deliveries, I use DHL or TNT Sensitive International Freight. Again, whom I use to deliver your portrait is totally dependent upon your location and the size of the portrait. Portraits are fully insured whilst in transit and a tracking link is provided once the portrait has been booked with a shipping agent.
